Racism and favoritism in the workplace are some of the common challenges that need to be addressed. Other challenges include discrimination, diversity training, equal opportunities, racism, and unconscious bias.

Discrimination is any kind of unfair treatment due to gender, race, sexuality, religion, or disability. Discrimination leads to the sidelining of some workers, and this stigma can often lead to the unproductivity of the affected workers (Noon 2017). Junior employees are the most affected by discrimination in the workplace since they possess minimal powers to influence any decisions made in an organization. Organizations should modify rules against discrimination of any kind, and the repercussions should include strict legal actions against offenders. Diversity training entails educating employees on how to treat others irrespective of their differences. This type of training helps to create a positive working environment. A positive working environment enables new employees to feel comfortable sharing their opinions.

Gamification is essential in diversity training since it brings together employees, and encourages teamwork towards achieving a common goal. The ability of an organization to offer equal opportunities depends on its managerial decisions and involvement (Noon 2017). Affirmative action programs can be employed to ensure an inclusive working environment. These programs could include eliminating barriers of equality and re-evaluating the criteria of recruiting, promoting, and training. Employees should be motivated at an individual level, and more concern should be shown to help improve tracking of their career path.
