Discussion Response on Leadership

As a leader in an organization, many responsibilities come with the title of ‘leadership’. Based on the post, trust and communication are critical factors of leadership. Trust in leadership ensures that a leader has faith in other employees and thus he or she can assign duties in absentia without any doubts. In the instance where the leader, for example, the manager is absent, other responsible employees can make decisions on their behalf. Proper communication, for this matter, will foster trust since employees at different levels in an organization can communicate their thoughts and feelings on work-related issues. According to (Esswein, 2017), we cannot assume the way people think and believe, and thus communication is of the essence. Empowerment as a leadership concept should also be embraced as it motivates other employees in performing their duties. In relation to post, leadership is a continued practice of learning in the job market.

For an organization to continue enjoying success and productivity, employees must be empowered. Empowerment is defined as the process where a manager or leader shares power with other subordinates in an organization (de Janasz, Dowd, & Schneider, 2019, p. 437). Empowerment can take the form of sharing skills and knowledge with others to raise their performance to a higher level than before. Benefits of empowerment include job gratification and success and improvement in job performance. A focal point of empowerment mainly in the management level where a leader can portray admirable leadership skills.
