The Relationship Between the Art Works of Contemporary Artists and The Times
Chapter 1: Introduction
According to the Merriam-Webster dictionary, the word contemporary is defined as something "marked by characteristics of the present period" or something "happening, existing, living, or coming into being during the same period of time." Art is an outcome of various interactions that include the emotional and cognitive processes within the artists. Therefore, there is a relationship between what is happening the work of artists. When we want to understand the art produced in contemporary times, we must consider the events happening, existing, living or coming into being during the same period.
Background
The results of the work of an artist are usually influenced by the contextual parameters and personal understanding of what they are experiencing or observing at the time. This is the basis of finding a relationship between contemporary artworks and the times. In terms of context, the artists are able to recognize particular objects or elements that can form part of their art. On the other hand, the cognitive and emotional conditions determine how to present the work, where individuals must observe new concepts and the period. One important trait of artists is capturing essential information that includes the historical elements that can be used as a reference in the coming years (Brieber, Nadal, Leder, & Rosenberg, 2014).
