Performance Appraisal
From my perspective, performance appraisal is a compelling aspect of organizational management. It is critical in determining the level of productivity among employees. This helps management identify appropriate employees for promotions and retrenchment. Considering that most employees aim for promotions and salary increments, they would be motivated to work harder to be rewarded. Performance appraisal is adequate, considering that the organization would aim at retaining motivated employees to enhance the organization's growth (Bayo-Moriones et al., 2020). Management would also be able to identify poor-performing employees and develop strategies to deal with the issue. Training may be offered to them to improve their performance in the organization. Performance appraisal is effective as it improves the general performance of an organization.
Organizations may adopt various strategies to improve their performance management and appraisal practices. Maintaining open communication systems within organizations is the first strategy that may help improve the performance appraisal process. Organizations need to ensure that no limitations prevent employees and management from communicating effectively (Bayo-Moriones et al., 2021). Employees need to be able to update managers on their work progress in real-time as they work towards achieving the organization's goals. They also need to be able to express their challenges as they work. During the appraisal process, managers need to consider how employees deal with various challenges and offer a solution to the challenges.
Another way for organizations to improve the process is by ensuring that the platform enhances growth.
