Outsourcing is an alternative of procuring goods and services from the outside supplier instead of getting them done by the contracted employees of a company or an institution. As a procurement method, outsourcing can also be done between states. In today’s society, the phenomenon is important because it enables the industry to get maximum profits from its unique advantages. Thus, outsourcing is significant in maximizing profitability from maximized production and increasing the number of skilled workforces. Otherwise, outsourcing can be defined as an act of business moving work that was initially conducted in the company to a different company. However, outsourcing can be referred to as off-shoring if that different company is located in a different country; for instance, a company that is not found in the United States. Subsequently, both outsourcing and off-shoring have been controversial in the united states because they make American workers lose millions of jobs, which do not look like ever getting pack to them.

The main advantage of outsourcing is production for an option of lower-cost manufacturing. Generally, it is usually cheaper to rent both the company and its manufacturers instead of building and maintaining them (Pearce II, 2014). This process is applicable in countries where the cost of manufacturing is cheaper than in the United States. For example, Apple hires factories and their employees in China to make them their iPhone products because of the cheaper labor in China compared to the United States.
