Personal Statement

My motivation for selecting the GLOCAL programme arises from a profound and deep interest in learning about the interplay of global economic structures with local settings to enable sustainable entrepreneurship and resilient business model resilience in emerging economies. As growing up and working in Karachi, I have witnessed firsthand the tensions between rapid market growth, resource constraints, and the need for ethical and long-term sustainability in fields like fintech, consumer goods, and technology services. The interdisciplinary focus of the GLOCAL programme, interrogating the history, theory, institutions, and cultures of global capitalism with a focus on local creativities, provides the best framework to deepen this understanding and transform practical insights into strategies and impactful contributions.

My academic journey started with a Bachelor of Business Administration (Honours) in the Institute of Business Management (IoBM, Karachi), where I graduated with a CGPA of 3.24. Key courses included Strategic Management, Principles of Marketing, Entrepreneurship and Small Business Management, Business Ethics, Sales Management and Analytics, Consumer Behaviour, Quantitative Skills for Business, Introduction to Entrepreneurship and Financial Accounting, and Corporate and Business Law. These courses equipped me with foundational knowledge in business strategy, market dynamics, ethical-decision making, entrepreneurial processes, and data-driven analysis, which are essential in navigating environments experience massive resource constraint, something present in emerging markets.

This foundation was significantly enriched by a fully funded semester exchange in Girne American University (Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, Fall 2021), awarded via a 100% merit-based scholarship (based on my strong GPA). I obtained a GPA of 3.
