Is It Ethical to Replace Human Workers with Automation?

Automation of processes within the workplace has been perceived to replace human workers likely. There are increasing concerns regarding using bots and machines to undertake roles that were once reserved for humans. Automation anxiety is the leading cause of these concerns, and people find themselves worried about losing jobs due to automating processes within industries. The fear exists in almost every industry, including different roles, such as creative roles, customer care, and administrative roles (Idowu et al., 2020). With increasing automation, people become more worried or concerned due to the likely ethical harm on society. Automation anxiety makes it hard for people to trust the process as they worry about their roles and potential changes in responsibilities. However, as machine use increases, there is no need to worry about the change in people’s jobs and security. Automation is ethical, and replacing human workers with machines has numerous benefits that can never be realized in any other way.

People must never fear job losses arising from automation, rendering them unable to provide for their families. Automation does not necessarily replace human workers, nullifying the idea of it being unethical because specific human tasks requiring critical thinking can never be replaced. Most people opt for business automation, intending to improve working conditions, performance, and productivity, which is possible and consistent if installed positively.
