1.0 Introduction
1.1 Background of the Study
As a key enabling ingredient, knowledge management is pivotal in enabling businesses to compete from a global perspective. Syed (2014) argues that numerous industrialized nations such as United Kingdom and United States have progressed into ‘knowledge societies’ hugely attributed as result of knowledge management. Concerning these developed nations; knowledge is primarily viewed as key factor in growing the economy. Organizations should therefore try as much as possible to make sure that their business practices are aligned with knowledge management for better results. In a sharp contrast, however, (Economics Intelligence Unit. 2007) reported that there is a tendency of costs related to knowledge management practices being high as compared to the accrued benefits. In most organization as per the aforementioned statement, knowledge management is usually under-utilized. Syed (2014) continues to state that as a principle, knowledge management entails a variety of key practices. Information technology (IT) is one of the key aspect to which knowledge management is related. Among other practices under the scope of knowledge management, include practices of human resource (HR), communities of practice (CoP) and organizational culture and structure (OCS)
