Google Case Study
Google LLC became a subsidiary company of the Alphabet Company in October 2015. The primary reason that led to Google Inc. undergoing this major reorganization is that it wanted to concentrate its resources on internet-related products and services and dominate that market. Thus, by allowing Alphabet to be its parent company, Alphabet gained ownership of all the companies Google had started through its extensively successful research and development division. All these companies are now run and managed by Alphabet while Google concentrates on providing the state-of-the-art quality of Internet to areas in the world that lack it. 4.3 billion people around the globe are still offline (Dujmovic, 2016). Google hopes to change that. Their mission is, “organize the world’s information and make it universally accessible and useful” (Cuofano, 2020). Its vision statement is to “provide an important service to the world-instantly delivering relevant information on virtually any topic” (Cuofano 2020). In 2019, Sundar Pichai, Google, and Alphabet’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO) endorsed and emphasized a simpler and renewed version of the mission, which is to enable people “to get things done!”
Google’s Research and Development (R&D) division has had massive success over the years, coming up with innovative technological solutions that have left the rest of the world in awe. Five of these projects will be discussed in this essay through an in-depth analysis of their operation, as well as their implications on people in the world.
