1. Strategies for Employee Retention
Organizations face employee turnover from time to time. This is a scenario where the best talent in an organization may drift away, making a company not to be in a position to perform. Several reasons explain why employees get to move from one organization to the other. A major reason is due to poor pay, which makes employees seek better-paying jobs. Employees are different, and for that reason, there should be ways in which an organization should retain and motivate them for them to remain (Alexander, 2018). In the case scenario given, the chief police officer has a duty to ensure that there are strategies put in place in the police department to ensure no employee leaves the police service anyhow.
A mentorship program is one of the ways that should be used by a chief police officer to ensure that junior officers remain within the force as they take care of citizens. There should be a pairing of new employees with a person that has the knowhow of advising a new police officer within the department. The new police officers will then be able to learn the way citizens require to be attended to, which would lead to great performance among them. It should be noted that mentors within the police department should not be police supervisors who may tend to use force (Lee, 2019).
