Summary
Margaret Rogers published the article “A Better Way to Develop and Retain Top Talent” in Harvard Business Review. The articles acknowledge the work revolution that is currently experienced, especially with the rise of artificial intelligence. Additionally, the desire of consumers has also changed as people want personalized and intuitive brand experiences that force firms to re-evaluate their approach to acquisition and talent management.
In order to retain employees, there is a need to create proper incentives for training and development. Importantly, the programs must be designed with the user in mind and ensuring that all aspects of the program align with the employee’s needs. Rogers (2020) offers insights about how to effectively address the unique needs of workers while designing programs for training and development. The managers must create a learning environment by asking more questions, create more opportunities on-the-job, varying the learning experiences, and manage time effectively.
Recommendation, Arguments, and Ideas
In order to ensure the effectiveness of employee retention, training, and development, there is a need to align the objectives of these training programs with the objectives of the organization. This is essential because it enhances the commitment of workers because they feel part of the organization's success. Other strategies that can be used during the implementation of employee development programs are engaging with workers to understand their specific needs. Through active engagement, managers will be able to establish the areas with loopholes and develop appropriate programs to seal these gaps.
