One of the things I learned from the course relates to developing effective KPIs. The course helped understand the steps involved in generating relevant KPIs. For instance, I discovered that the first step is defining the strategies clearly: the strategic objectives provide focus and clarity when deciding the most effective KPI relevant to the strategic objectives (Films Media Group, n.d.). The second step is finding the right metrics to track progress and output concerning the strategic objectives. A good metric must be founded on clear data, understandable, comparable to other equivalent competitors, and able to inform a company about required alterations (Parmenter, 2019). The next step is determining the measurement method for each identified metric. Each company or business has its own approach, and it is, therefore, important to find a measurement framework that fits the unique needs of the chosen business or company.

My recommendation for Fox Factory was to produce the new e-bike internally. While this option will weigh heavily on the company’s financial resources, manufacturing internally is the most sustainable choice in the long term. Fox Factory has spent a lot of resources developing its dealer relationships, upfitted vehicles segment, and performance-defining components offerings. In-house manufacturing of the new e-bike will provide the company with vertical integration advantages, including lower production costs through operational efficiencies.
