Synthesis of Course Material

From the course materials, I have gained essential knowledge about cost management information. The aspect of cost management information usually includes the information that managers require in order to enhance the competitive advantage and value creation within their businesses (Endenich, Hoffjan, Schlichting, & Trapp, 2016). In this regard, the cost management information usually includes both financial and non-financial information, which is essential to the success of the company. It is also essential to understand that the role of cost management information usually differs based on the strategic plan guiding the particular organization. From such information, I learn that it is essential to have a comprehensive value creation strategy that will utilize both the financial and non-financial data at the disposal of the company. This will warrant better and effective decisions to enhance the competitiveness of the organization and ensure that there is long-term success (Blocher & Hicks, 2019).

In the contemporary business environment, there are significant changes and developments that influence the way businesses operate. There are various methods that are applied by management accountants to ensure that there is smooth implementation of adopted strategies within an organization (Hadi, Nazgol, & Shaban, 2019). The main methods that focus on the implementation of strategies include the balanced scorecard and strategy map, value chain, activity-based costing and management, business analytics, target costing, and life-cycle costing. There are also other methods that assist in the implementation of strategies by maintaining focus on improving the processes.
