Discussion Post: Consumer and Business Buying Behavior

Consumer buying decisions are influenced by a combination of cultural, social, personal, psychological, and situational factors. In my own experience, psychological and personal factors play a significant role, particularly when evaluating value and long-term utility. For instance, my background in digital marketing makes me more analytical when purchasing tools or services, as I often rely on reviews, performance data, and perceived return on investment. Similarly, social factors such as peer recommendations and online communities influence trust and decision-making (Albrecht et al., 2023). These factors also affect other consumers differently depending on their lifestyle, income, and exposure to information, demonstrating the complexity of consumer behavior.

A recent purchase I made was subscribing to an SEO tool. The process began with need recognition, as I required better keyword and competitor analysis. This was followed by an information search, where I compared multiple tools through reviews and case studies (Albrecht et al., 2023). During the evaluation stage, I assessed features, pricing, and usability. I then made the purchase decision based on value and reliability. In the post-purchase stage, I evaluated performance and usability, which reinforced satisfaction. Disposal, in this case, involved discontinuing a previously used tool that no longer met my needs. This structured process reflects the typical consumer decision-making stages outlined in marketing literature.

In a B2B context, I have been involved in selecting marketing tools and services for projects.
