The Grand Canyon University’s Accounting Society is an on-campus professional organization that allows business students to advance their careers. The main areas of advancement are education, networking with professionals, and volunteering in the community. In the Colangelo College of Business, the on-campus club has remained an influential organization transforming young graduates into outstanding business professionals. Through the assistance of the GCU Accounting Society, many people have secured internship positions and job offers upon graduation.
After visiting the Accounting Society’s website, there are several things that I have learned, and I believe they will shape my career in the business field. The club is closely associated with the Institute of Management Accountants (IMA), giving students a chance to get a first-hand experience of diverse learning and networking events that professionals in the accounting sector prefer. Another essential gain from researching society is that it supports its members with the skills and tools sought by prominent organizations. There are workshops inviting professional speakers to guide, educate, and motivate young students and accountants about available opportunities (Walker, 2018). These forums also highlight the necessary skills and tools that can give young graduates leverage in the job market. Therefore, these forums effectively ensure that individuals prepare for the career opportunities available in the accounting discipline.
