Question 1:

Various factors can contribute to variance in net profit before taxes between these two periods. Cost of goods sold, as well as inventory purchase, are some of the factors that affect variance in net profit. Most of these factors fall under quantitative factors. A good example is inventory, which is between Jan to June, which recorded high income, unlike the second phase, from July to December (ABC Company 202X, n.d.). Another common factor is qualitative factors like stiff competition, market share, and advertisement.

Question 2

2. a

The aspect of inventory purchases contributes a lot to influencing net profit. $302,014 was recorded for the first duration, while in the second duration, it was $262,421 (ABC Company 202X, n.d.). Moreover, the production unit also influenced a lot, whereby the cost of goods sold in the first duration was $266,996. In the second session, production or sales increased to $282,271 (ABC Company 202X, n.d.).

2 b.

Inventory purchase reduction can be caused by a company's failure to convert inventory into cash promptly. When there is so much delay, more storage and maintenance cost hike lead to the recording of profit reduction. Furthermore, low production or supply of commodities to the market can also influence poor performance. Another thing that can cause the change is unpredictable natural issues, like climatic changes, fire, price inflation, and others.

2 c.

There are several things that I can do to ensure that the performance has improved for the next six months.
