Unit 10 Discussion 3

Through this, I have gained several important concepts regarding the state of diabetes in California. I have understood the main socioeconomic determinants causing diabetes prevalence and how they can be addressed. I have also gained and honed my writing skills, which are important for effective communication as a healthcare leader. The most important and provocative insights I gained was how diabetes care could be enhanced through community-coordinated initiatives. I will use these concepts and skills to enhance my influence and leadership within the public health sector.

Primarily, I will be proactive in advocating for diabetic people and establish appropriate measures to prioritize their care. The course has changed my perspective on diabetes care and its effects on individuals, families, and communities. As a future healthcare leader, this will ensure that I become a strong advocate for disadvantaged people like diabetic patients. I will use the information and insights from the course to assist in developing my capstone project, think critically through problems, and develop effective solutions to healthcare challenges. On the course concepts gained, I still think that healthcare delivery for chronic conditions must be based on research and actively engage local communities.
