Diary Entry #3, Thursday, May 4

In America, there has been a reduction in the number of coronavirus infection cases. This factor can be attributed to the measures that the federal and state governments have put in place. Since the entry of the disease in the country, there has been a complete overhaul of events, and the economic devastation has been dire. However, the focus has been on the role of the healthcare system and how it can be revitalized to operate maximally. Data from the center for disease control and prevention indicate that the country has 88,243 people due to the disease. The number spikes when patients with preexisting conditions like pneumonia and influenza are tabulated; these numbers rise when people with preexisting respiratory diseases are attacked. The pathogen manifests in the lings, and people with breathing difficulty experience lung failure that increases the chances of fatality. Since the beginning of the pandemic, the states of Wyoming and Alaska have not recorded any new cases. New York City and New Jersey still lead in the number of infections and deaths, although the numbers have reduced significantly over the past week.

In some countries, the number of infections has been significantly lower compared to global statistics. For the 12th day, New Zealand has not recorded any new cases, and the number of fatalities has remained low. In the country, there is an app that facilitates contact tracing, and it has helped in the containment of the disease.
