Discussion Post: Devil in a Blue Dress
Mise en scene is where the visual elements work symbiotically to make up the story while cinematography combine key elements such as lighting, camera angle, depth, distance, and exposure. In the sex scene between 19:00 and 20:00, we can see the interplay between these elements to depict the mood of the film. As the partners argue, it sets the mood for the subsequent events through the movie. The argument between the couples showcases the nature of the film and the detective story that unfolds. The shots and camera angle used in the scene include close up and a dim lighting to symbolize the suspense of investigative story in the film.
