Virtual tour of Al-Haram Al-Sharif
Al-Haram Al-Sharif is better known as Temple Mount. I have gained a deeper understanding of the temple mount after the virtual tour. I learned that Al-Haram Al-Sharif lies in the same region where the first and the second temples existed for around 900 years before the Romans brought down the second temple in 70CE ("The Temple Mount / al-Haram al-Sharif," 2020). It, therefore, means that it is an essential place for the Jews because it is also the location for the prophesied third temple. Places of worship are given due respect, which explains why it is an important place for the Jews, and for a long time, the Jews used the western wall for prayers and pilgrimage.
It is so amazing how Al-Haram Al-Sharif was built. The virtual tour has led me to see different angles of Al-Haram Al-Sharif. The material used in making it is so durable that it still stands strong to date. I learned that art started long ago. The decoration in the mosque is exquisite both in the exterior and the interior ("A Virtual Walking Tour: Al-Haram Al-Sharif," 2020).
I also learned the importance of the Dome, which is right next to the Al-Aqsa mosque. It is a significant landmark and symbol for both Muslims and Christians. The Dome of the Rock, however, was not built as a mosque but as a shrine for pilgrimage. ("The Temple Mount / al-Haram al-Sharif," 2020).
