Green, Aaryn L., and Annulla Linders. "The impact of comedy on racial and ethnic discourse." Sociological Inquiry, vol. 86, no. 2, 2016, pp. 241-269.
According to Green (241), the US loves comedy. Undoubtedly the research presents that ethnic comedy, which highlights differences and similarities between ethnic groups, is rooted in previous racial warfare. Due to racial and ethnic humour, Black comedians who were brave, outspoken, and frank about race relations arose at this time. The survey found that racial comedy has returned to the mainstream and attracts diverse audiences. This study suggests that sociological research is needed to examine how racial and ethnic humour affects individual race relations and systemic race framings. This research strongly implies this area of investigation. This is crucial since the racial and ethnic landscape is rapidly changing and growing more complex, even while inequalities are still present.
Kim, Jennifer. "Racism's Back Door: A Mixed-Methods Content Analysis of Transformative Sketch Comedy in the US from 1960-2000." Journal of Ethnic and Cultural Studies, vol.7, no.3, 2020, pp.142-162.
According to Kim (142), there is a variance associated with comedy and racism. From the research, it has been noted that racism is affected by comedy in contemporary society in that for society to understand the underlying challenges, an evaluation is needed regarding social ideologies.in addition, there is a need to have comedic alterations and corrections which play the role of eradicating the presence of racism.
