Remote Collaboration and Evidence-Based Care in Patient Treatment: Application to Pediatric Pneumonia Case
Overview
This case study examines how remote collaboration and evidence-based practice models can improve healthcare delivery for patients in geographically isolated areas. Using a two-year-old patient named Caitlynn with pneumonia and suspected cystic fibrosis as a primary example, the paper analyzes the application of the Johns Hopkins and IOWA Models of Evidence-Based Practice to develop a comprehensive care plan utilizing telemedicine and interdisciplinary collaboration.
What this case study covers
- Introduction to remote collaboration and evidence-based care in nursing practice
- Patient case study: Caitlynn's medical history, symptoms, and diagnostic findings
- Application of Johns Hopkins and IOWA evidence-based practice models to develop treatment strategy

Remote Collaboration and Evidence-Based Care
Hi, my name is [Insert Name], and this recording will identify how Remote Collaboration and Evidence-Based Care are critical to the quality of care that a patient receives. Nurses use evidence-based practice (EBP) because it aids them in pinpointing care strategies that can help their patients (Deldar et al., 2016). EBP includes the use of research, clinical expertise, and a patient's preferences to determine the kind of care a patient will receive. People living in remote areas may have a hard time getting the quality care that they need. However, with Remote Collaboration and Evidence-Based Care, the medical professions can come up with solutions that will benefit patients in remote places (Cayley Jr, 2011). In this video, I will discuss one such patient, Caitlynn, and analyze how Remote Collaboration and Evidence-Based Care can have a positive outcome.
