Diabetes is a major health issue that needs quality healthcare and intervention to sustain and overcome. The nursing field has shown dedication in its efforts to take care of diabetic patients. The best ways diabetic patients can be helped to overcome their health issues. Nurses can use perceptions from Kaya & Karaca (2018) and Alotaibi, Al-Ganmi, Gholizadeh & Perry (2016) to gain insights on how best the nursing care can be implemented the target patients. Diabetes affects how glucose is managed in the blood and is a severe issue for a nurse caring for their diabetic patients.
Alotaibi, Al-Ganmi, Gholizadeh & Perry (2016) presents a quantitative study in their article “Diabetes knowledge of nurses in different countries.” The authors' objective is to define and appraise the evidence of the knowledge nurses have on diabetes and identify the factors that limit nurses from attaining the right knowledge on diabetes. The article adopts a systematic search approach and other components to explore the topic. The study is based on both emerging and developed countries and uses various tools to assess nurses' knowledge on health issue. The study concludes that nurses demonstrate significant and long-standing knowledge deficits in various aspects of diabetes. In such instances, the strategies are needed to overcome the defined barriers to the acquisition of knowledge.
