Multi-Generation Workforce Communication
Thriving in the contemporary work environment requires outstanding abilities to communicate with people from different generations and backgrounds. The course concepts presented herein showcase the communication with this is essential for success in the work environment. When communicating with others, I must acknowledge and appreciate each individual's unique characteristics within the work environment. In order to build a productive team capable of achieving the objectives, there is a need to foster a proper communication style that will bridge the gap between the different groups.
As an individual, I will utilize these concepts to understand the perspective of team members as well as patients. This will assist in building positive relationships despite the relationship gaps that exist. Another important thing I would apply as an individual is to modify my communication style to fit the audience's level. This requires humility and an urge to embrace others despite their differences. Every person has a unique need that must be addressed. A good leader or team member must understand what others want and ensure that they assist them. I would devote myself to follow-up on patients and understand what families are experiencing when they are away from the hospital. This will help me to realize their fears, and hence develop effective therapies or interventions for their situation.
Additionally, communication with people from different generations requires one-on-one interaction. As a healthcare leader or practitioner, I will always prioritize personal relationships within the work environment.
