Case Study: Fetal Abnormality

Fetal abnormality is a significant problem with many long-term impacts on children. Religions like Christianity produce certain perceptions aligning with particular moral theories. In this regard, essential elements related to people's dignity and respect for human life are central in shaping beliefs. The theory of relationships, which focuses on the economic and social conditions, is critical in explaining family views in the case study. It explains the perspectives of the people within certain religions. The theory of traits is also essential in explaining the perception of the doctor. Understanding the Christian perspective, the scientific perspective, the theories to establish the fetus’ moral state, and the main influences on the recommendations is crucial for solving the dilemma.

Question 1

The scientific progress and the inquisitive nature of philosophy resulted in ideological differences among humans. There are people promoting the idea of humanism while others support the concept of life without the belief in God. When people advocate for life without theism, they promote an individual’s responsibility live ethically and aspire for common good. While theism has created many religions, they affirm God as the origin of life (The Veritas Forum, 2014). Christians believe and affirm that people are created in the image of God, implying that human beings are both spiritual and physical beings. Therefore, people are required to maintain a relationship with God, the creator of all things.
