I am (Name) a student, and I enjoy writing and public speaking, something that I have nurtured since high school. Through writing, I have learned varied leadership skills and team management. Additionally, I also engage in charity works in my neighborhood. I am the organizing secretary in a community charity group which focuses on cleaning and nursing the elderly in the community. During this coronavirus pandemic, I had to quarantine for two weeks since my teammate contracted the virus. Although my locker was not close to his, I had to take the responsibility of protecting other team members and my family.
In order to protected other, I had to deny myself love and social happiness for two weeks, a great sacrifice I had to make. However, it helped me override selfishness, which is a clear obstacle at the individual level, as well as a leader. Leadership entails confidence and understanding. The aspects of cultural intelligence also helped me as a leader in this scenario since I understood the cultural differences involved.
Although the two weeks felt long because I did not have social interactions, I sacrificed them for me and others. It is an instance of self-sacrifice where you deny all your social and personal needs for something else. I believe this was one of the most challenging periods, but I overcame all the challenges of solitude. I obeyed the rules set by the government in terms of quarantine.
