Keeping Music in Schools
My topic is about the rationale for keeping music in schools. Music plays an integral part in the school curriculum due to various advantages to the learners, parents, teachers, and the community. There has been a controversial debate on keeping music in school recently, raising many concerns about its standings. This has created various feedbacks on different positions and verdicts on the matter. While some people support that music ought to be upheld in schools, others are requesting that music be eradicated from school. According to research, schools with music programs have significantly higher attendance rates than those without programs (93.3 percent compared to 84.9 percent) (Ho, 5). This research indicates that keeping music in school has various advantages rather than disadvantages. Music in school has enhanced students' intellectual skills, creativity, and development of various issues in enhancing people's lives.
Music helps students in learning other languages. How music integrates various languages in its arts enhances the students' reasoning skills. In essence, students will develop abilities in memorizing some of the vocabularies of a particular language. For instance, music always incorporates various languages such as Spanish, Chinese, Indians, and French within the same context. Therefore, students will need to understand some of these vocabularies to understand the text's overall meaning (20 important benefits of music in our schools, 1). Therefore, in this way, learners can deduce these new terms.
