Global Warming's Impact on California Communities and Mitigation Strategies
Overview
This paper discusses California's leadership in combating climate change and examines the observable effects of global warming on local communities. The author argues that while global warming has caused significant lifestyle disruptions through abnormal weather patterns, coordinated efforts promoting green lifestyles and clean energy transitions can effectively mitigate these impacts.
What this essay covers
- Personal observations of global warming impacts including severe summers and extreme winters in California

Discussion 1: Global Warming
California is leading in the efforts to fight climate change. Global warming has had significant effects on our community. I have experienced global warming through abnormal weather and climate patterns within our state. With the increased use of coal and other fossil fuels, many extraordinary climate changes result from global warming. In our community, global warming has affected people’s lifestyles because we have been forced to adjust to the new weather patterns (Environmental Defense Fund, n.d.). Unlike the previous years, the summers are more severe and winters extremely cold. In order to address and mitigate the impacts of global warming, there is enhanced advocacy to adopt green lifestyles. This is where people advocate for minimal meat consumption, fossil fuels, and other forms of pollution. On the other hand, people are encouraged to embrace biking, vegetarian lifestyles, and plant trees. These are measures aimed at reducing pollution and the overall carbon footprint of each individual. The authorities have committed to reducing emissions and transition to clean energy. These special measures make the region cleaner, with enhanced decline rates in carbon emissions (Environmental Defense Fund, n.d.).
