Regardless of how hard COVID has hit the world’s strongest economies, proper measures and transparency need to be put to contain the situation. The Federal Reserve Bank was created in 1913 and is the central bank of the United States. The Fed exists to regulate the stability of financial markets and oversee the monetary policy of the nation. Since the COVID pandemic, capital input and full-time labor have been affected substantially. Consequently, consideration of various measures to ensure GDP growth has to be enacted. The COVID pandemic measures followed to control the spread significantly affected the economy. Through the Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC), the Fed took necessary actions to ensure the availability of money and credit to stimulate economic goals ( 'FOMC'). However, the Federal Reserve is committed to supporting the US economy by ensuring stable prices and employment.
The FOMC aims to fulfill its state mandate by promoting employment, averaging the long-term and reasonable prices. Due to the financial uncertainties during COVID, inflation, employment, and interest rates will decline. The COVID pandemic is causing severe economic and human hardships in the world. The committee seeks to review the monetary policy to the public in a transparent way possible. The role of the monetary policy is to stabilize the economy and enable businesses and households’ make informed decisions ('press release').
