Term Paper: Economics and Mathematics
Introduction
Economics is primarily concerned with people’s well-being in a country. Economists indicate that manufacturing products and services in a country enhance economic growth although it also results in environmental pollution. Economics comprises of both macro and microeconomics (Celina). Microeconomics deals with people’s actions within a country such as businesses, workers, and households. Besides, macroeconomics focuses on the entire economy. It focuses on varied issues including production growth, the number of unemployed individuals in a country, government deficits, inflation, and the country’s imports and exports. Macroeconomics and microeconomics are inseparable subjects.
A country’s macroeconomic health is determined by various facets such as an increase in employment rate, improved standard of living, and a decrease in inflation. In most cases, monetary macroeconomic policy is used to pursue the objectives (Shafi et al.). The monetary policy primarily comprises of policies that influence financial capital markets, interest rates, and bank lending. The central bank of a country helps in attaining monetary policy goals. For instance, in the United States, the Federal Reserve acts as the country’s central bank. Besides, fiscal policy comprises government expenditure on taxes. Such is usually determined by the legislative body of the nation. In the United States, the legislative body consists of the executive branch and Congress, which designs the federal budget. Americans believe that the government is usually capable of fixing all the problems encountered in the economy.
Economic activity in the United States has recovered significantly in the third quarter.
