Diversity Statement
My educational and professional experience has efficiently prepared me to influence an environment of inclusive excellence during my graduate career at DU. I attended the University of Dammam, where diversity is today recognized and appreciated. Traditionally, women were never allowed to access such privileges in the education sector. The fact that we sit with women in the same lecture rooms today in the university is just a beginning of recognizing diversity. It has changed my mindset and enables me to appreciate being in the midst of a diverse school environment.
My work experience has also contributed to influencing my appreciation for diversity. Working in the clinical sector had me attend to people from different gender and age groups. The experience of working with different people increased my understanding of the importance of diversity. While taking my education, I learned different skill sets which I believe are critical I contributing to diversity. I have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, as well as leadership and management skills.
My dream has been to work in an international environment. It is the reason I decided to further my studies at The University of Denver. Before joining the university, I conducted personal research on how to fit in a new international environment. I learned that communication is key to making an excellent social network from the diverse population in the foreign university. I learned how to understand and appreciate different cultures.
