What does it Mean To be an American?

Many people have a different understanding regarding what it means to be an American. For example, Lecrae's song utilizes three different characters that remind people how everyone has a different story about America. Two people come from different communities, while the last person is not an American. These three people view America from different perspectives. Lecrae believed America is a country where every individual was free to do anything, even if it is wrong or illegal, such as pornography and illicit drugs. For example, he says that there is a sex slave trade in America, which happens right in the people's eyes. He also defines America as a place where people do anything for money. This is demonstrated by how mothers sell their children for money. Notably, America is a country that protects individuals, and everyone can do whatever they please as long as they obey the laws.

Through the video, Lecrae illustrates America as a secure place because there is an intense military base fighting and protecting the country from external attacks. In his song, he presents non-American believing the country as a land where people eat and live well. The person believes America is the best place to live, and people usually work hard to raise financial resources to travel to America and experience its benefits.
