Troy and the Trojan War

In the Greeks epic tradition, there existed soldiers that protected the territories against invasion by the enemies. The soldiers were dedicated to ensuring that they protected every property and the people within the Greek territories. As described by homer, the soldiers were strong and they remained undefeated throughout many wars. They also depended upon the gods for their strength and guidance in fighting against their enemies. With the description that homer provides of the existing warriors, Achilles was one of the strongest among all. Achilles focused mainly on ensuring that there is a high level of discipline among the soldiers and that he participated actively in the war. The Trojan War and the Iliad were started by the gods who had decided to reduce the population in Greek mythology.

The gods were determined to reduce the population by inducing war between the Greeks and their enemies. The Greek warriors decided to participate vehemently in the war with an aim of defeating the enemies. Achilles being a great warrior, however, was worried about the plight of his soldiers since a plaque had been started to finish them. Most of his soldiers were affected by the plaque which made him concerned. Amamgenon as described by homer had the authority to convene meetings with the soldiers to solve any problems arising. However, the rivalry between Amamgenon and Achilles forced the latter to convene the meeting to try and solve the problem of the plaque.
