The Role of Department of Corrections, Public Information Officer

As a Public Information Officer, my objective is to link the community and the state in terms of information. The goal of the Public Information Officer is to provide information on the state prisons and parole areas.

Presentation

Law enforcement officers play an integral role in ensuring law and order are maintained. The department of corrections has a significant role in coordinating the parole areas and the state prison. The goal of every police officer in America is to reinforce law effectively as per the et policies. Laws, policing, ethics, values, integrity, and public trust are the main components of the department of corrections (U.S Department of State, 2011). Public perception of a public Information Officer (PIO) in state paroles and prisons is significant. However, there is always friction between the public and the PIO. Delivering the information from the department of corrections at the state level to the public can have a lot of challenges (Stimmler, 2019). For example, the wrong perception of the information released can lead to reduced funding or heavy criticism.

The extension of these problems is massive because they question the integrity of a PIO officer. The values and the laws can be compromised when integrity is not pursued. Therefore, it is critical to understand the difference between law, policing, ethics, deals, and public interests.
