Social media has brought about numerous benefits, such as allowing individuals to easily connect with others around the globe, as well as breaking cultural and international borders. However, it has several adverse effects. Some of these problems include eroding traditional culture, security or privacy issues, and mental health. This paper's main objective is to present evidence from other research that exclusively demonstrates the negative impacts of social media on these three domains.

To guide this study, the following research questions have been developed:
- What are the negative effects of social media on traditional culture?
- Does social media pose security or privacy issues to individuals?
- How does social media negatively impact mental health?

Social media on Privacy
According to Wu and Majedi et al., the relationships between people in online networks can be exploited and traversed. The fact that people share too much information on social media is a phenomenon that has made privacy and security a fundamental issue in today's era. Social networking systems, agencies, and organizations collect huge amounts of data, storing it in their databases. Such information often falls into the wrong hands exposing people to hacking, theft, vandalism, and other related issues.
