Race, Gender and Poverty in Mexico
Introduction
On March 27, 2018, the New York Times published an article that was a discussion amongst six experts on the inequality trend in the US and how it varies between races and gender. The African Americans face a myriad of challenges ranging from racism, living in dire poverty because they do not get opportunities. In terms of gender, African American men are discriminated against the most while the white men and women and African American are on the same level in the discrimination level. Sometimes, it is hard to determine whether African Americans are not working hard to be in the same class as their white counterparts or are actually treated unfairly. But the situation affects the African American child from a younger age when they are still schooling. Several parents are thinking deeply about how to protect their children from toxic racism at an early age. But perhaps racism is the genesis of gender discrimination and the high poverty levels among the black races. The discussion published in the New York Times newspaper shows how deep-rooted racial and gender inequality is in society. In turn, the disparity leads to poverty and makes it hard to attain a uniformly developed society. Similarly, Mexico has faced several racial and gender discrimination cases that subsequently cultivated poverty in the country through the inability of government regimes to implement sound policies that promote a uniform economic and social progress since the 19th century.
