Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder Symptoms in COVID-19 Exposed Populations: A Multi-Country Analysis

Overview

This paper examines PTSD symptoms among participants with direct and indirect COVID-19 exposure across five westernized countries using pre, present, and post-traumatic dimensional analysis. The author argues that observed symptoms resulted from legitimate empirical data reflecting genuine population demographics and tested factors, while acknowledging limitations in sample diversity and gender representation.

Introduction

Please identify the thesis of the paper:

Participants in the study showed symptoms of PTSD with the events that had not happened or ones that had been directly or indirectly exposed to COVID-19.

How clearly is the thesis stated? Did you have any problems understanding it?

The thesis is well stated. First, it is clear and well stated. Second, the thesis is arguable and if read by experts, they can either agree or dismiss it. Again, it reflects on the author’s position on the topic that indeed PTSD happened during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Background Section

Does the author explain all relevant technical concepts?

The author has given an elaborate overview of the technical concepts available in the paper. For instance, takes us through the participants of the research and how they were recruited online and the events they had been exposed to either directly or indirectly. In addition, the writer states that no wishing or false reality was mentioned in the paper to mean that there was legitimate empirical data as well as evidence. However, it had some shortcomings.

If not, what is not explained?

There were limitations in the research process since the whole project did not incorporate a more diverse and distributed set of data. The research should not have been conducted only on a set of individuals being that the pandemic affected nearly everyone in the world. That the research targeted a specific group doesn’t make it quite convincing.
