Police is a government department that must be respected by the public, but lack of integrity has turned them into enemies of society. A man was beaten by the police officers, an incident that occurred on 3rd March, 1991. Rodney King was instructed to pill over because he was driving at a higher speed. The incident took place along the LA freeway. However, when the victim pulled over his car, he started to run away from the officers, which resulted to the police chasing him. After being chased by the police, Rodney surrendered to the police. Immediately after catching up with him, the officers started to beat him through a mob. A civilian from the neighborhood captured the incident through a video.

Rodney King explained that 'They hit me in my face at midnight, these guys going for a kill. And they said, we gone kill you nigga run!’ Through the recorded footage, we can see the level of impunity portrayed by the police as they ganged up to beat up Rodney. The victim ends up losing a lot of blood. Notably, the police used bats to pound on the victim. From the footage, it is evident that this was done without moderation since they are seen kicking him randomly and beating him all over.

The police department gave their verdict on the situation during the press conferences right after the case drew public attention.
