Philosophy

The philosophy of kinesiology is a field that focuses on the historical, philosophical, and sociological aspects of human movement. It also emphasizes the application of ethics, leadership principles, and current research on diversity, equity, and inclusion to future roles in the physical education, athletic, and exercise science professions. In this personal philosophy paper, I aim to present my perspective and understanding of kinesiology, and how it connects to my chosen career path.

From an ethical perspective, kinesiology emphasizes the importance of promoting equity and inclusion in physical activity and sports. As an educator in this field, I am dedicated to providing opportunities for all students, regardless of their background or ability, to engage in physical activity and to feel included and valued in their learning environment. This means being mindful of the language and activities used in the classroom and creating a safe and welcoming space for all students.

Aesthetically, kinesiology values the beauty and artistry of human movement. In my teaching practice, I will strive to instill an appreciation for movement as an art form and encourage my students to express themselves through their movements. I will also promote creativity and experimentation in their physical activities and provide opportunities for them to explore different movement styles and forms.

My personal philosophy in kinesiology is centered on the belief that movement is essential to human health and well-being, and that everyone should have access to opportunities for physical activity and sports.
