Should Parents Limit the Amount of Time Children Spend Engaging With Screen Technologies?
The amount of time children spends before digital screens has drastically increased. Watching television, smartphones, gaming tablets, and other gadgets are part of children's daily lives. Thousand of young people are relying on technology, whether at home or school. While many people support the idea of parents limiting the amount of time spent on digital screens, I believe that the behavior must be encouraged in children. This is because of the many benefits accruing from emerging technologies and how they enhance life quality and efficiency.
Limiting kids from seeing screens denies the reality that life has changed. Unlike in past years, many things in our contemporary society depend on technology. The screen can be very beneficial for kids. Parents must prioritize encouraging the responsible use of screens rather than succumb to fear that their kids will be spoiled by spending too much time on the screen. The only primary concern for the parent should be whether the children are learning or not. This is essential because devices such as smartphones, televisions, and tablets can be used as avenues for students to access essential content for education and development purposes (Silva).
Another critical aspect of the digital screen is that it prepares children for the contemporary society. Life without a smartphone or basic knowledge of digital technology can be very hard. By ensuring that children consume screen technologies responsibly, they acquire essential skills that assist them in navigating life after college.
