Organizational Feasibility Study of Integrated Practice Units Implementation at Cleveland Clinic

Overview

This feasibility study examines the Cleveland Clinic's organizational challenge of inconsistently implementing integrated, multidisciplinary, patient-condition-centered care across its 16 clinical institutes. The paper analyzes the gap between the organization's strategic goal of becoming 'One Cleveland Clinic' and the reality that only four Integrated Practice Units (IPUs) have been officially launched despite selecting 106 care paths for development.

The Cleveland Clinic is a nonprofit multi-specialty academic health System, based in Cleveland, Ohio.
