Open Communication on Teen Sex
Teens and parents benefit by communicating openly about sex since it helps children to understand the structures of their bodies as well as that of the opposite sex and get to understand the concept of birth. Teaching sex to kids is a difficult task that parents need to embark on and inform their children about the issue of teenage pregnancies, precocious pre-teens, and sexually transmitted diseases or infections (STDs) (Oros, 2012). Teenagers and parents need to have a conversation regarding safe sex and prevention of pregnancies since they are appropriate for that age. The parents help in providing the needed information to children. The purpose of this argumentative essay; therefore, is to explain how open teen sex communication is beneficial to both parents and teenagers. It proceeds by focusing on body positivity, healthy gender characteristics, informed sexual decision making, delayed sexual activity, consensual and safe sexual engagements, and reduction of unwanted pregnancies and STIs as some of the outstanding benefits of open teen sex communication. This helps in revealing the attractive results that parents and teens may realize by openly holding sex information communications.
First, open communication about teen sex is beneficial to teens as it encourages them to be body positive. Holding open sex conversations with teenagers increases their likelihood of developing positive feelings about their bodies. Parents pass the message to their teenagers that they need not be embarrassed with their bodies by talking to them honestly and openly.
