James Buchanan is described as the worst president in the history of presidencies in the USA. Before president James, Abraham Lincoln was a phenomenal leader and an icon in American history.
People disrespected president James for several reasons; for instance, he was single for the entire life, and he almost died of a disease that was spread in his hotel. If James Buchanan did not win the election, several things would have happened. Firstly, there would be chaos around America because James Buchanan was a great debater and political influencer. In this case, James would convince the house of representatives to reinstate him through popular vote in the senate. Being a democratic nominee, the battle between the two parties would be immense. The country would be at risk of civil war. The new president would face severe opposition, and the government would not have a sectional balance. Typically, the sectional balance was a strategy established by James Buchanan. Its objective was to push the people to accept constitutional laws (Greenstein & Anderson, 2013).
The acceptance of these laws would be the biggest tragedy American could face. Moreover, slaves and people of color would have the opportunity to own properties through the new presupposed president. Unlike James Buchanan, whose intention was to false people to accept property deprivation laws, the new president would help them fully control their properties.
