Issues Facing Municipal and Regional Planning
Planning is an essential part of human life that ensures various activities run smoothly. Municipal and regional planning is an activity provided for by the laws of different countries. It helps in guiding land use, among others. Planning is vital for the organization and smooth running of routine municipal activities. However, several issues threaten effective municipal and regional planning.
The significant issue affecting municipal and regional planning is the awareness of officials about planning. The municipalities, in some cases, are not included in the designing phase. The city authorities know very well what they wish was done in their municipalities for them to be great. When the municipal and regional authorities are not consulted in the designing phase means low quality, and a non-inclusive plan will be developed. The planning committee needs to include members from the municipal who give a clear representation of what the municipality needs. The program usually comprises policies about urban facilities and land use, among others; issues that the committee members from the municipal have the upper hand in solving alongside other issues like pollution and traffic congestion. Direct coordination with the city authorities will ensure a smooth and effective plan (Haaland & Van 2015).
Another sensitive issue is the inner development of municipals. Municipals are continuously growing. Planning is done at a regular interval to address the growth in the region.
