In the healthcare settings, there are different professionals expected to work together for efficient service delivery. Therefore, interprofessional collaboration is vital for quality improvement and patient satisfaction (Bosch & Mansell, 2015). Through the course, I have gained deep understanding of various ways that interprofessional collaboration leads to improved service delivery. Moreover, collaboration also reduces errors committed when dispensing different functions. Nurses, physicians, specialists, and health care workers must always consult for accuracy and efficiency in service delivery.
Interprofessional collaboration is vital for effective improvement of healthcare delivery, efficient operations in the clinical system, preservation of human dignity, proper leadership, ethical considerations, and reducing health disparities existing in healthcare institutions (Bosch & Mansell, 2015). Healthcare professionals dealing with patients may not fully understand all the factors listed, hence the need for support from colleagues.
Through the course materials, I have understood where interprofessional collaboration is emphasized, there are minimal inefficiencies. Since professionals undertake assessments and the process of treatment as a team, there are reduced chances of errors occurring (Bosch & Mansell, 2015). Also, the assessment and treatment process occurs in a holistic approach instead of focusing on a specific diagnosis or treatment.
When patients start receiving treatments, interprofessional collaboration guarantees effectiveness. This is because, in the healthcare setup, practitioners are trained to perform specific functions. Therefore, they have to wait for others before they can start providing their services (Bosch & Mansell, 2015).
