Healing Professional Athletes

Injuries, even though they are hopefully not frequent, are mostly unavoidable in the sports field. Professional athletes are always aware of some of the potential injuries they can incur during sports; however, the injuries or accidents causing various injuries are rare. In most cases, injuries that athletes incur can be managed without or with little disruption of their daily activities and sport participation. However, some injuries bring about a significant mental and physical burden that changes the athletes' life forcing them to struggle with recovery. The psychological retaliation of injured athletes can unmask or bring about severe mental health problems like substance abuse or use, disordered eating, anxiety, and depression, which, if not handled, can lead to more severe complications. Injured athletes battle with various issues as they try to recover and return to sports prompting them to rely on other ways of finding recovery, which they feel are more effective and faster than normal medical procedures.

Head injuries are some of the injuries that athletes can face bringing them pain and other complications related to stress and depression, especially if they cannot go back to sports unless they have fully recovered. Athletes respond differently to injuries; therefore, their reactions cannot be predicted in case of injury. After athletes are injured, they give out a normal reaction in terms of emotions.
