The presenter was very elaborate in demystifying the importance of cultural diversity in society. Starting from her personal experience, she explains how culture shapes our identity, behaviors, as well as how diversity should offer understanding, acceptance, and provide us with an ability to accept other cultures. From the presentation, I understand that cultural diversity is an essential factor in the contemporary world. The evaluation of things surrounding us is based on how our culture has shaped our perspectives.
The diversity in cultures across the world can be used for the benefit of human society. When humanity taps into cultural diversity, novel gates of knowledge can be opened and more opportunities created for people. The cities, workplaces, schools, and other institutions are comprised of different cultures. Like never before, our generation has a higher chance of interacting with people of a different culture, ethnicity, or belief, or religion each day. From the talk, I learned that there is a lot of wealth arising from a rich cultural diversity. Human life cannot be developed without appreciating the different value cultures bring in society.
When we understand the value of culture in our lives, we will enrich ourselves with the infinite opportunities that diversity brings. Efficiency is enhanced when we transform from our stereotypical behaviors and start valuing people based on what they can do, not their culture. Professional and individual success will only be enhanced through appreciation of cultural diversity.
