Radiologists are crucial healthcare team members performing diagnostic procedures like X-ray exams, computed tomography (CT) scans, and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scans. Besides, radiologists are responsible for ensuring quality diagnostic images. They work with other specialists to interpret medical images to determine or rule out illnesses and injuries.
I chose to be a radiologist because it makes a difference in people’s lives. I learned that they help detect illnesses or injuries, allowing me to work with up-and-coming medical technology to diagnose patients and make a difference in someone’s life. Professionals passionate about offering hands-on clinical care and comforting patients are ideal for this career. There are numerous employment opportunities for those pursuing the career.
Working as a medical assistant at NYU Langone, a multispecialty practice, I gained knowledge and skills in diverse healthcare areas. With over a decade of experience, I currently work as a Pharmacokinetic Technician at Memorial Sloan Kettering. The journey offered opportunities to interact with patients, particularly cancer patients at MSKCC. Working with diverse patients helped me discover that I am passionate about diagnostic studies. I also learned that Radiologists earn relatively competitive pay, providing significant stability and growth.
I would be a good candidate for the Radiologic Technology Program because I am organized, diligent, detail-oriented, responsible, and empathetic. These qualities merged with good communication, interpersonal, analytical, and technical skills, make me effective in the radiologist role.
