America as Superpower Confrontation in a Nuclear Age (1947-Present)

Since the rise of the US as the dominant power in the world's military and economic force, the whole world came under the US interest. The USSR 's defeat allowed the second superpower to determine what characteristics the world's political and ideological model ought to have. United States involvement in World War Two has led to a significant impact. The geopolitical rivals created stability after the mutually assured distraction. The inevitable part was poor military planning, which is evident in the Caribbean crisis.

World War II victory over Germany forced the USSR, the US, and the western countries to return to the conflict between the capitalist and the socialist state political system. The current contradictions were compounded by the aspirations of politicians who wanted to consolidate their position after a bloody war, taking advantage of the poor condition of most nations (Nye Jr, 25). The repercussions of the political struggle caused irreversible losses to the world's economy from which it could not recover.

The 1958 Berlin crisis was not the first conflict between the USSR and the West. Until this, the conflict between the former allies of the anti-Hitler alliance had already risen, resulting in a blockade by Soviet troops of the western zone of occupied Berlin. Instead, the crisis ended without open war, but the situation around Berlin still did not match the USSR. The situation in the GDR slowly started to deteriorate over the last decade.
