CNSL 691: Internship 1: Professional Counseling

CNSL 691 is the first of two professional counseling internships in UMGC's M.S. in Clinical Professional Counseling, and it triples the field hours you completed in practicum.

UMGC's description requires a minimum of 300 clock hours of counseling and related services, 120 of which must be direct client contact, with individual or triadic and group supervision by faculty. It takes place in an approved agency, educational or clinical setting and develops individual and group counseling skills.

The step up from practicum is real. You are likely to carry more clients, take more responsibility for assessment and treatment planning, and be expected to explain your clinical reasoning in supervision rather than simply describe what happened.
